Santa Teresa penitente
Colegio Carmelita de San Ángel
Moldura original tallada en madera dorada (oro de hoja) con motivos vegetales.
Obra perteneciente a un panel de cinco lienzos. En el último tercio del siglo XVII, los carmelitas renovaron su Sacristía. Para ello contrataron a Cristóbal de Villalpando, un pintor cuya fama ascendía vertiginosamente. Los cinco lienzos exaltan los valores de la penitencia cuyo nombre sería Políptico de la Pasión.
En esta obra, instantáneas sobrecogedoras de la Pasión se intercalan con escenas penitenciales de la más importante mística carmelita, santa Teresa.
